There is a full-length film version of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax due out in March. But would you believe me if I told you that there is absolutely nothing at all about environmental education on the website promoting the movie?
A fourth grade class in Massachusetts has taken action and has put together a petition pressuring Universal Studios to put environmental education onto the website promoting the film. After all, The Lorax is about protecting our Earth from destructive greed. . . isn’t it terribly ironic then that a promotion for the movie focuses on the money and not the story’s message? Forgive me for not being cynical about this and thinking that, yes, it is ironic and shockingly so (even though it probably isn’t).
If you’d like to sign the petition, here’s the link:

And how could I not link to the original cartoon version itself? A film and story I love deeply and that has influenced my life profoundly.
